USACE – Robert S. Kerr Dam Modernization of Electrical Infrastructure
SCOPE OF WORK
Overall Project consisted of the following:
Replacement of (4) main 15kV switchgear lineups
Replacement of 480V station service switchgear
Installation of new Generator Step-up (GSU) transformers, supplied by others
New 15 kV bus from generator to switchgear and from GSU transformers to switchgear
Replacement if unwatering/sump pumps and motors
Replacement of draft tube and spiral case valves
Transformer deluge and deluge containment
Governor kidney loop system
Olsson was instrumental in the re-design of the GSU transformer power distribution. Olsson, alongside OS Engineering and Stoddard Power Systems, proposed a new location for the GSU’s that resulted in an underground duct bank for the MV conductors in place of aerial.
OS Engineering, with the help of Stoddard Power Systems, provided expensive Engineering assistance to the CORPS throughout the project as well as commissioning and FAT testing of new switchgear.
Olsson performed all of the switchgear controls integration locally at our panel shop in Springfield, OR and had the switchgear delivered to Tulsa, OK.
