The John Day North Fish Ladder AWS Pump Replacement

Overview

Olsson Industrial Electric was awarded a best value Design-Build contract by the Northwest Region, Portland District Army Corps of Engineers, to provide field removal of the existing AWS Pumps, installation of upgraded AWS Pump Systems, installation and fabrication of a new Power Distribution System and incidental related work at the John Day Dam, North Fish Ladder.

Scope

  • Designed and constructed MV and LV power distribution systems
  • Installed two parallel 13.8KV feeders, two 3000KVA transformers, and six 450 HP VFD and motors with integrated PLC control systems
  • Meticulous specification of engineered equipment to satisfy challenging operating environment
  • Thorough factory acceptance testing of all components, including a ¼ scale pump design, motors and power distribution center
  • Designed, fabricated and tested the Power Distribution Center off-site
  • Provided project management services – six engineering firms, four subcontractors and six suppliers
